BYD Builds World’s Largest Battery Plant in China

BYD, an international energy company, opened a 24GWh power battery factory in Qinghai province in Western China. The company aims to build up a total production capacity of 60GWh by 2020 with the size of 140 football fields.

The factory is equipped with advanced technology, such as a first rate Manufacturing Execution System, smart logistics or driverless automatic guided vehicles. Each battery is marked by a unique identification QR code. “All our batteries come with a unique identification code. We can troubleshoot any problems simply by scanning the QR code on the battery as this gives us the battery’s technical specifications and necessary manufacturing information,” explains He Long, CEO of BYD’s battery division. The new factory is BYD’s third battery factory.
