Clarke Creek Wind Farm in Central Queensland Receives National Environmental Approval

After the 800 MW Clarke Creek wind farm in Central Queensland, Australia, received a federal government approval under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Protection Act (EPBC Act), the major project can move into the next phase in 2019. The wind farm project had already received approval for a 400 MW solar park with a large battery at the beginning of the year. In total, the site, which combines wind and solar energy with a battery storage system, will be able to supply around 590,000 households with renewable energy and will become Australia's largest wind farm.

The project will be implemented by Lacour Energy and Goldwind, who who formed a partnership. As a wind turbine manufacturer, Goldwind will supply up to 195 wind turbines for the project and manage the construction work. Lacour Energy will implement its expertise in the areas of development, financing and construction of utilities and has developed the "Balance of Plant" tendering process, which calls on local subcontractors and suppliers to participate in the project.

The cost of the project is over $1.5 billion, will create 350 new jobs during construction and employ 25 people during operation.
